CBT-NCR-NUTDIET:CERTIFICATE IN NUTRITION AND DIETETICS
This certification program focuses on chemistry of food; healthy nutrition; assessment of an individual's nutritional status; and ways to prescribe correct nutritional balance in various states of health. The study of dietetics teaches students how to select a proper diet for an individual or a community. HS 1001 - 011 Nutrition
Nutrition is a science concerned with the practical application of nourishment and diet principles. This course includes concepts of nutrition, therapeutic aspects of nutrition, assessing nutritional status, requirements and the importance of nutrition in life, and the five essential nutrients.
HS 1002 - 011 Dietetics
This course provides dietary recommendations for individuals based on knowledge of nutritional requirements of different age and sex groups, dietary habits, state of health and availability of food and geographical climate.
FD 1001 - 011 Food Science
This course involves the scientific study of food and its interaction and relation to health. It includes discussion on the role of nutrients in food and changes that occur during food preparations.
FD 1002 - 011 Food Quality and Safety
This course has topics on safe handling, storage, preparation, packaging and transportation of food and on prevention of food borne illness. It discusses contamination of food, importance of clean water and highlights safety regulations and various analysis and tests that are required to maintain quality and safety of food.
F1003 - 011 Food Chemistry
This course involves study of various chemical processes and interactions of biological and non-biological components of food involving water, carbohydrates, amino acids, proteins and fats. It also includes topics on vitamin content of foods, enzymes, food additives, flavors, and food coloring.
